David Burden was born in Orlando, Florida on January 27, 1979 to Randy and Alice Burden. A 1997 graduate of Boone High School David also attended Blankner Elementary. He and his brother John, another Boone Hall of Fame member, enjoyed playing pick-up basketball in the back yard and on the courts at Delaney Park. David also enjoyed little league baseball at Delaney Park where his Dad was always the head coach.

David began playing Freshman football and basketball upon arriving at Boone. He also joined Track and Field after being convinced to do so by the ever persistent and legendary Coach” K”. As a sophomore he started at Fullback for the Varsity Football team and excelled at JV basketball. David would play Varsity basketball as a senior. He joined the weightlifting team his Junior year where he won several meets. As a senior he would go on to win the metro conference and finish 3rd in the state weight lifting finals in the 219lb weight class. That track season he finished third in Regions in the shot put behind two
Boone high school track legends Erik Strange and Alex Thomas. David began to play both offense and defense on the football team as a junior and
continued to do that as a senior playing both fullback and linebacker. As a senior he would go on to make all Metro Conference team as linebacker
and would earn the Golden Helmet player of the week on two separate occasions. The award he was most proud of was being voted MVP of the
football team by his own teammates. He would go on to play football at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Throughout his
senior he served as president of the Boone Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) .

David currently lives in Orlando, FL with his wife Jessi (unfortunately an Edgewater alum) and his three children Henry 9, Mary Alice 7, and George 4. He enjoys coaching his kid’s sports teams and is excited about each of them attending Boone.
